‘Things No Longer There’: Poetry Magazine Podcast

poetry_foundation-squareI’m thrilled that my poem ‘Things No Longer There’ features in the current edition of the Poetry Magazine Podcast. There’s a reading of the poem (with help from some ‘special effects’ editing by Curtis Fox) a few snippets of interview with myself and a discussion by the magazine’s editors.

Also featured is ‘Bespoke’ by Michelle O’Sullivan, that wonderful poet whose second collection, The Flower and the Frozen Sea, has been named a PBS recommendation and ‘Paris Syndrome’ by Victoria Kenneffick, whose excellent pamphlet White Whale has proved a magnet for awards and acclaim. The podcast concludes with a discussion by guest-editor Patrick Cotter of recent trends in the Irish poetry scene. My sincere thanks to all concerned for making this happen, and for subjecting my work to such flattering and fruitful scrutiny!

Poetry Magazine: Young Irish Poets Special Issue

It’s an honour to have two poems –‘Sound‘ and ‘Things No Longer There’– in the current issue of Poetry Magazine. It’s an issue devoted to young Irish poets (young in this instance meaning born after 1970) and it features 25 superb voices, some like Caitríona O’Reilly well established, others, like Dean Browne, at the very beginning of their poetic careers.Sept_cover-360

As an added bonus my most recent collection, The Architect’s Dream of Winter, is reviewed alongside books by esteemed colleagues Doireann Ní Ghríofa, Alan Gillis and Tara Bergin. My thanks to editor Don Share, guest editor Patrick Cotter and to reviewer Maya Popa for her generous and perceptive reading of my work.
