Poetry File on RTE Lyric FM

I’m delighted to feature this morning on Poetry File, a new feature on Liz Nolan’s storied Lyric Notes programme.

I was happy read my poem ‘Sound’ and describe its origins during a stay at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Anngahmakerrig.

The slot, which will air each  Thursday at 11 am, was devised by the singular Eithne Hand and is supported by Poetry Ireland.

Poetry File kicked off last week, on national poetry day, and will continue to feature some fine poetic talent over the coming weeks and months.

Here’s a wonderful short video describing the series. My thanks to all involved for the invitation to contribute.

2016 Poetry Ireland and Tyrone Guthrie Centre Bursary

Bursary

I’m absolutely delighted to have been awarded a Poet-in-Residence Bursary by Poetry Ireland and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre:

Poetry Ireland is pleased to announce the winners for the Poet-in-Residence Bursary offered by Poetry Ireland and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, kindly supported by McCarthy Insurance Group. The bursary caters for mid-career poets who need time away from other demands to focus on writing. In recognition of the exceptional quality of applications received, three poets have been awarded a one-week bursary each, to take place in spring 2016:

My sincere and heartfelt thanks to all concerned. And congratulations to fellow winners Maria McManus and Michael O’Loughlin.
